Boom 2008 Set...

Posted on Aug 29, 2008

There really isnt much else that I can add to Darvin's account of Boom.

It was an amazing experience and I know that it will be something we both will remember for ever.

Its a bit strange, now that Sons of Aurora is on hiatus for the next 12 months. I know that it will be a big void in my world not having Darvin around.

I'm gonna miss you brother.

I'm uploading the Boom set as I type.

Hope you all enjoy!!

BOOM!!!!

Posted on Aug 23, 2008

Nothing can prepare you for a 7000+ person dancefloor under a raging hot sun with killer daytime psy vibrating the ground at least a half a kilometer away. The scale of BOOM this year was HUGE, the rumor is that many more people arrived for the festival this year than last year and although in some respects the gathering seemed to be struggling with logistical blow-outs, they did a hell of a great job in pulling it all off.

Norris and I were all smiles as we played our chill set on the final Sunday in the early afternoon. Four hours of lovingly chosen tracks and in the end a round of cheers and applause brought our set to a close and left us with some pretty huge grins on our faces. It was such a huge honor to be able to contribute to and enjoy BOOM, thank you to Naasko, Nilza and all the rest of the BOOM team for putting on the biggest psytrance festival in the world. It was a dusty, sunny, 1000 different languages great time indeed!

And now Norris and I are parted as I travel for the next 12 months and he heads to school in Vancouver. We have a few new adventures on our horizon, possibly a gathering in Morocco in the Sahara in April, we shall see. We are presently working on recording our sets from both BOOM and Motion Notion, so look for them coming soon. I have also uploaded a bunch of photos to our gallery for everyone to enjoy.

Peace, light and never ending adventures!!!

Take It On The Road

Posted on Aug 8, 2008

Part 1 and 2 of our big summer adventure is complete, and so far both Motion Notion and Eclipse have been both energizing and as fun as we'd hoped.

Motion Notion this year was a bit of a change for us as we were asked to play the sunrise set on Sunday morning, which we rang in with a bit more of a full-on sound than is our usual style, but we made sure we brought things down to some deep and beautiful progressive sounds as the stars disappeared and the sun broke over the horizon. Again this year there were numerous moments of fully enjoyable conversations and killer music, and the new stage that Jame's has found is eye candy x 10, really a huge plus of an addition to the festival. Again, James has single-handedly given Alberta, and Canada one of it's best summer trance experiences.

Next was our first Eclipse experience, and I have to say that it was at a beautiful location and was very professionally run. Cafrine, Yann, and the rest of the Tech Safari crew are a fully positive and professional group of people and made our time at their festival one of our favorites to date. If you are ever up for an adventure and wnat to spend your money on a festival that really is incredible, do yourself a favour and get yourself to the next Eclipse!!

And next we are off to Portugal and the Boom festival. We are scheduled to perform a chill / psydub set on August 17th at 1pm. If you happen to be in the area, stop in and get your groove on, and say hello too!

Dusty beats!!
