Description

For the past seventeen months, I've been playing at a place here in town called Seven Restolounge.  While the many ins, outs, ups and downs of this particular residency are perhaps best shared over a beer, this, my last set there, is I do believe entirely appropriate to share online.

Those who have been following my music for a little while will doubtlessly recognise a few of the songs in the tracklisting - as it was my last night and we had a pretty good crowd, I took the opportunity to work through a number of the songs that have really stuck with me over the years, including a number of the more mainstream, vocal-ish tunes that have always worked so well at places like Seven, and fielded a number of requests from staff and punters along the way.

[nerd style]

This set was also my first using my new DJing setup - Traktor Scratch Pro and a Vestax VCI100, the latter of which I purchased two nights before the gig and got up and running about two hours before I packed up for the gig.  As I'm mixing between the Numark D2 Director and the VCI100 using the VCI100 as just a single input source, there's a few shonky moments while mixing between the two, but if you're the sort whose listening experience is wrecked by anything less than a phase-perfect transition, I'm probably not your DJ anyways - I've been told I'm more of the 'lurch from one awesome tune to the next' types when I play in a lounge or house party environment.  (Ask me about my prowess with a CDJ200!) Audio nerds, this one was recorded on an Allen & Heath Xone 92 (thanks Kev!) into a Zoom H4, gently rubbed the right way, and then lovingly compressed with the latest version of LAME.

[/nerd style]

As always, there's a couple of my own edits and reworks thrown in there too that have never been distributed or otherwise passed around.

Hope you enjoy listening to this as much as I enjoyed playing it - I've had many, many fun nights at Seven since we started there a year and half ago, and this past Saturday was certainly no exception.

I didn't think I'd be sharing this when I mixed it, but I'm happy with the result, so have put it up here for a little while for those who might be interested. Enjoy!
