Description
There are a handful of people in my life that are wired for sound the way I am.  One of them is a hydrogeologist right here in Calgary named Will.  For the past eighteen months, Will and I have been comparing notes and swapping tunes, in the process realizing just how much we have in common, musically speaking.  Will had a chance to travel to Europe in late 2007, and having heard a fair few of my sets, he asked if I'd cull my back-catalog of uplifting trance to make him a mix of classic "jet songs" - etheral, emotionally engaging melodic tracks that, at least to Will's ears, best encompassed the sorts of emotions one might expect to experience traveling intercontinentally to catch up with a new and exciting romantic interest.  This is the mix that came of that request.

Now you might have noticed these aren't all six-months-in-advance fresh tracks.  You'd be right. Having worked the order desk and the front counter for a major vinyl shop, I understand how excited people get about upfront tunes, and how exciting it can be if you're one of the lucky ones to get a white label promo or for-review pre-release.  Been there, done that - and I still get a steady stream of brand-new tunes for review for my writing gigs - but for me, it's not always about fresh as much as it is about good. These are the tunes that have been rocking my box since the day they arrived - even if that day was three or four years ago.

Some, like Super8 and Tab's First Aid or Perry O'Neil's Waveforce, are big honking trance bombs that entered my life while I was in Australia, and have been hammered by me at every opportunity since then.  Others, like my edit of Özgür Can's remix of Gabriel & Dresden's Arcadia or my take on Lackluster's Cull Streak, have only seen the light of day in Will's flat prior to their showing up on this mix.  In any case, every song on this mix was hand-picked by me to provide a good friend with some emotional energy.  After much discussion, I've decided to share it here with a wider audience for a limited time.  I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it - and as much as Will enjoyed traveling to it.  Wheels up!
