This mix has its origins in a conversation I had with two of BeatRoute's editors over a number of pints of beer at Broken City, a bar on 11th Avenue here in Calgary.  Realizing just how little we knew about each other's respective tastes in music, we decided to start swapping mixes - a bit of a "here's what I like right now", with the aim of making mixes that were both legitimate to our peers within our respective scenes, but also approachable to those who were approaching them with zero or near zero knowledge of the genres.

This is my first contribution.  I've called it "Act Normal", because, well, it's what I seem to spend a lot of my time doing - and as anyone who's ever tried to broach the "why I love dance music" subject in mixed company knows, sometimes it's better just to play along with the rest of society and pretend you're down with whatever's playing on MTV this week.

I wanted to put together a mix that was positive, groovy, and laid back, but that also highlighted some of the musicality and crossover appeal that's been creeping back into trance, electro, minimal and progressive in recent days.
