Description
Overland is an usual journey through some of the music that's caught my ear during the first months of 2007, and it was mixed to coincide with the one year anniversary of Pure.Prog in June, an Area709-branded monthly night at the Amsterdam Rhino here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Disc One, entitled Clastic, can loosely be classified as progressive house. There are seven vocal tracks on this mix, and as with my other mixes, the lyrics tell a story when considered from start to finish. I think vocals can make or break a song - and indeed an entire mix - and to me the lyrics of these songs have meaning.
The first eight tracks of this mix are edits, remixes or mashups I've had a hand in. Kaiti is myself and Calgary deep house DJ Kevin Tanas, while FIM and Nyquist are just me and my various electronic devices. In some cases, I've made minor tweaks or changes, and in other cases, I've juxtaposed two different songs and made them into one. I'd like to think that makes this mix a bit special, as this is the only place you'll find some of these tracks.
Feedback is always welcome. Enjoy.
