Fretwell's Faceless, Early May, Gearing up for the end of an era...

Posted on May 12, 2008

Ok, so it's May 12th, and a fair bit's gone on in my life over the past month. It' s 11:58PM, just winding down the last few minutes of a Monday night as I write this. Listening to Fretwell - Faceless, one of the bits of vinyl I carted back from Australia with me, and as far as progressive breaks records go, it's probably one of my very favourites. (as an aside, I wish vinyl didn't sound better than CDs - I hate carrying vinyl... it's just that I love listening to it so much! FAO KT, the NC-E stylii are still rocking it yo, thank you)

I'm gearing up for a very exciting weekend of records sun silliness and shenanigans in Revelstoke with one of my very best friends on earth, DJ Pluto, who I've been playing records with since Music for the Masses first came out on vinyl (he had it on the bus, it was the 9th grade). After two years of us living within spitting distance (ok, the same half of the same continent) of each other after so many years six or more timezones apart, the universe has unfolded such that it looks like he'll be back to Northern Europe in the near future - so this weekend will be something of an "End of an Era" - in a lot of ways, I guess. It's been great having you around, mate.

In other news, I completed my most recent promo, Act Normal, last week, and have been trying with very little success to FTP it to the 709 servers since then. Most frustrating - hoping to get it up by the end of the week, even if I need to sneakernet it to Mr Straub midweek. Grumble grumble Shaw sucks I think I'm on their blacklist for bittorrenting too much... what can I say, I hate commericals. Speaking of midweek, I'm at Seven again this coming Thursday, kicking the long weekend off a day early before my trip to BC, when Mr Rob Curtis takes over the controls for Friday and Saturday. So yer, Thursday. Would be great to see you there.

Hmm, what else? Jennifer Rene interview is up, and Solarstone and Blank & Jones are both coming, hopefully this week. Must...stop...procrastinating!

Still, I said I'd get this entire posting done in the span of a single record - the aforementioned Faceless - and done. Just. :)

Enjoy the long weekend.
