I don't think I'm in any of your markets, so you shouldn't view this as negative competition. I live in an area that has been growing rapidly, but needs a social kick. We simply don't have enough DJs here. I'm forming a night club and performance theater and have initiated the process of identifying anyone with talent for our booking clearinghouse.

The short-term need is to implement a seminar series on DJ training.

1) Has anyone already developed such materials?

2) Thoughts on how to pull it together so that it draws the most particpants?

3) Anyone planning on passing through Oregon or northern California this winter, or know of DJs that would be inclined to sign on as instructors for a percentage? (I know, I recently missed some of you on your way to or from Burning Man).

This is part of a larger supposition that the strongest, most livable communities engage the arts as well as commercial investors. The commmunities that successfully combine the two achieve much stronger economies and better socialization than those that do not. if we can pull together appropriate artistic and technical mentorship, in two years we will be able to measure whether or not this hypothesis is provable.

It's an interesting idea, and to be honest a little bit of knowledge goes a very long way when you starting out in any hobby really. And even once you are more advanced, there is always something new to learn which is something that is missed often I think.

I know that within our group we are open about sharing new skills and technology tips, so we have our own ongoing informal dj school always open for business.
