Description

This is a recording of my set from Soundproof’s annual Trancemission party, held in late August of 2008.  The Trancemission parties have been going for 11 years now.  Sadly enough, this was the first party Soundproof held since Martin Sikes passed away last Christmas.  In memory of him, we changed the name of the party to “Trance_ission” while the party flyer featured a larger-than-life “M” hovering in the background.

There were a number of subtle and not-so-subtle little salutes to his memory over the course of the evening.  I hope that everyone had a chance to say a goodbye that evening in their own way.  The party was as loud, crowded and ridiculous as we’ve all come to expect.  Good thing everyone at that party was a complete lunatic... To my utter amazement, when the bad weather hit in the morning, it really didn’t seem to deter anyone!

After the party was over, I noticed that almost all of the DJs ended their sets with some kind of classic techno track.  None of this was planned this ahead of time - I think everyone just seemed to want to give a nod to some of their favorite memories from days gone by.  Martin, wherever you are, I hope you enjoyed the show...
