Happy New Year!

Looking back through my music section on Area709, you've probably noticed that my output for 2009 has been, well, a bit less-than-stellar.  Rob accosted me about this the last time I saw him back in October.  We had been drinking a little bit and were playing at an event that had an absolutely deafening sound system (Griff - thank you); consequently, I can't really recall everything that was said verbatim.  Rob's comments basically amounted to "stop being such a perfectionist and record something, you lazy bastard."  So, some brazen but well-meaning encouragement to heart, I started working over November and December, in between shows.

You can find "Archives" in the music section for download now.  The name is partly based on the source material in question.  I used a couple of older tracks in this mix that you might recognize from shows I played at in 2009.  There's a lot of music I consistently overlook due to the fact it's more than a year old.  New music is released at a pretty overwhelming rate, and it's easy to immediately default to a newer tracks whenever you play a show.  I wanted to recombine some dated tracks people might recognize with some of the newer music I've been collecting.  On a personal note, "Archives" seemed like an appropriate - if somewhat nebulous term - for the collective sum of experiences I had in 2009.

So, with this quick note, I'll log off for the time being and let the mix speak for itself.  I hope to post up again later this week, letting you all know what's in the works for Soundproof for the New Year...

Cheers,
Jones

P.S., A huge thank you to everyone that showed up to "The Party" in December.  I know the timing was a bit awkward so close to Christmas, but the crew was really stoked with how well the turnout was for that event.  I'll have a better idea in the coming weeks about when the next show might be...
