Music for the People...

Posted on Nov 25, 2009

"You know, a lot of people say they're going to go until 6am.  You guys are *actually* going to do it."

A memorable quote from a couple of weekends ago, from one of the owners of the space that the Soundproof crew rented for "Bootleg."  We sold out of tickets, kept the dance floor busy until the end and everyone I saw and spoke to had an awesome time.  Whatever accumulated wisdom the crew has retained over the last decade made cleaning and packing up relatively painless; we were out and rolling gear into the garage within an hour.

One novel change from the usual state of affairs was the fact almost everyone dressed up for this event.  That's not really the norm with Soundproof parties.  We always have a theme which establishes the overall vibe of the party, but it usually isn't as interactive as "Bootleg" proved to be.  The 1920s Prohibition Era "Speakeasy" feel to the evening was supplemented with a lot of crazy and stylish costumes on the dance floor.

And, well, it's Soundproof.  So, if you didn't show up all dressed up, it was still nothing but open, welcoming arms.

The success of the party coupled with getting to play at "Bloom" (courtesy of the BeLeaf crew) the evening before had me grinning ear-to-ear for the next week.  Once again, I want to thank the BeLeaf crew for inviting Drew David and I to play, for the amazing crowd that assembled that evening and for everyone that came out and stayed up all night at "Bootleg."  I consider myself very lucky to be part of a community like this.

The next Soundproof party - or, rather, "THE PAЯTY" - is set for December 12.  If you're wondering what all the cheeky word play is about, check the description for event listing off on the left.  We'll be welcoming back longtime Soundproof alumni, Jeff Johnston from an extended hiatus in Spain and having Julie Singer filling our guest DJ slot this time around.

We'll have a bit of extra space in the venue this time for more people than "Bootleg."  But, based on the numbers we've been seeing at our indoor events over the last year, it's always a smart idea to get a hold of one of us ahead of time for tickets.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again, and I'll post more details here, closer to December 12th!

Cheers,
Jones
