Upcoming Soundproof Events...

Posted on Jul 29, 2009

Hey Folks,

August - for those of us who haven't gotten our fill of really loud amplified sound - is going to be a good month.  As usual, both the Soundproof and Beheshto crew have experiences our fair share of ups and downs getting prepared for our respective outdoor events this summer.  It's a good thing we get positive feedback from the people that attend our parties.  So far, that's been the only thing that's been keeping me sane with preparations over the last month.

Both Soundproof and Beheshto have been scrambling to find venues as a result of some rather unexpected bad news back at the end of June.  I think we're all sorted, but - as per usual - I'm not one to relax until the party is well underway.  I never thought I'd write this, but it's a good thing I nearly broke my ankle climbing back in May.  It left me effectively grounded until now, yet completely unperturbed when it came to devoting weekends to lending a hand to sort out logistics, make phone call and harass people via e-mail.  Can't climb?  That's okay, you have work to do anyway.

So, I'm relishing the thought of people actually being able to reap the benefit of all this running around.  Having said as much, I would like to publicly thank everyone for all the help over the last couple of weeks.  Thanks for sending the Soundproof crew a really clear message with the turnout we got for "Phosphene," our last indoor party.  With respect and deference to the message you all sent, we aren't giving up on us if you aren't...

Saturday, August 3rd - Anza Club

So, as per usual, a couple of us are taking over the Anza Club this Saturday night from 11:00pm onwards.  Colleen (Ms. Innocent) Andy (Drew David) James Fillman and I will be cranking out the techno.  For those of you not looking forward to the contained heat wave the Anza basement is infamous for, don't worry about, we have good news for you.  We're hauling the whole sound system and the decks upstairs for the first time.  So, let's see if we can - as usual - completely pack the place!

No cover, cheap drinks, familiar faces, hard but friendly music.

Saturday, August 8th - TBA Venue - Trancemission 12

Ah yes, the little outdoor party that refuses to die!  This is our 12th year of doing this party, and as usual, I'm looking forward to it.  We've already been given the gears over scheduling this the same weekend as Shambala... and I know, I know, it sucks.  However, the only other option was *not* doing the party, so this is the compromise we've managed to reach.

I'll post more details after the weekend, but for the time being, here's the flyer Andy designed for the party...
