The Day Before The Last Day

Posted on Dec 30, 2007

Rain is lightly falling on snow laden cedar trees surrounding the location of this years Intention, a five day retreat here on the west coast of Canada. 150 or so people are gathered here to share themselves and create a grounding experience to carry forward into the new year. So far it has been a very warm, inviting, and energizing time and a great way to wind down what has been for me a very fruitful and busy 2007.

Already there are many plans underway for 2008 for the Area 709 project, including our annual event Kultura at the Art Gallery of Calgary on February 2nd, along with our first release Conduktor on Area 709 Recordings by Anahata. With so much to look forward to it can be tempting to not take the time to reflect and savor the accomplishments of 2007 so I am grateful to be able to be here in this time and place with the ability to look back and take it all in.

I hope that my message finds you warm and happy and enjoying your holiday season, and I wish you much adventure in 2008.

Peace and light!!!

Yo! I am new to your scene but have been discovering many of you guys via XTC then I found 709. I am a musician of many years and I really like you and Straub's stuff in particular. I overdubbed 5 min of lead guitar onto one of your songs and would love you to hear it! I want to do more of this and also would like your formal permission to use your work in this context. Regards, J S in Oakland.
