Bloom And Inshala III Email List

Posted on Mar 25, 2010

I wanted to post up an email I sent out to my personal contact list today about the upcoming Bloom and Inshala III mailing list mailout. I know there are many others of you out there that I would love to have included in the formal mailout, so if you are interested just send me your email by contacting me at darvin@area709.com and I will add you to the list.

The email is as follows:

Greetings and Welcome to Spring!

I wanted to send a note to let you know that you will soon be receiving a formal informational email about Bloom and Inshala III as I have submitted your email address to the email list for Inshala. This email list will only be for the Inshala summer gathering and it will not be shared or spammed, we promise to keep it's use to a bare minimum.

I consciously selected people from my own person contact list that I felt would love to attend/support/nurture this incredible gathering, as well as assist us in helping to spread the word to others who might thrive while attending Inshala. I have waited many years for the right opportunity to come along for me to throw my energies into and I am VERY excited at what will be created at the Inshala gatherings!!!!

Inshala III will take place on the beautiful South Country Fair grounds along the banks of the Old Man River in Southern Alberta from June 11-13, 2010.  The weekend will be filled with workshops and music for the discerning, each element chosen consciously. This is also a weekend of family activities and we strongly encourage children to attend.

You can find Inshala on facebook here:

http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=281482400830&ref=ts

In a nutshell, for me, this will be an opportunity for us to gather all the people we love into one place and have a space created each summer as a reunion of sorts. Regardless of what is happening in our daily lives, with our children or other obligations, this weekend is inclusive and meant to energize!

Bloom is a fundraiser we are holding for Inshala III. Bloom will take place on Friday April 16 2010 in Calgary, and will be an opportunity for our community to get revved up for summer. All proceeds from Bloom will go directly to funding talent and infrastructure for Inshala.

You can find Bloom on facebook here:

If, once you receive the official email from the Inshala mailing list (which will be coming to you shortly), you do not want to be on the list, please select the opt-out option at the bottom of the email.

Thank you for your time and I hope to see you with me under the sun and stars at Inshala III!!

Sound Quality Upgrade

Posted on Mar 1, 2010

I received some feedback the other day that my mixes available here on Area709 are encoded as 128 kbs MP3's and that simply wasn't good enough. Fair enough!! I did not realize that I could be putting better quality files on the site and now that I know I can, I have gone back through my entire mix collection and re-uploaded them as 320kbs files. I encoded them on the slowest setting for the highest quality possible and as most of you know it makes a HUGE difference.

So... if you are so inclined you can now delete all those nasty 128 kps versions and nab the new ones. Being the sound junkies that most of you are, I am sure you will do just that.

While you are at it you can have a listen to the new label mix I have completed for Zenon Records. It is a mix of all the tracks on the Small Talk release and they went together like butter. It's a minimal/psy-tech sound that only Zenon could pull together. A new leaf for the label and enjoyable to explore as a listener and a DJ.

Also I have posted up on my Facebook fan page a clip of footage taken from last years Motion Notion. It catches Norris and I as Sons of Aurora right at the beginning of the set, I believe I am babbling about something regarding the bpm... that was an awesome night.

Take it easy my friends!!

Gettin' 'er done!!

Posted on Feb 23, 2010

Two mixes completed in one month, I'm on a roll. I have just posted a mix which is pumping journey through the halls of psytrance heaven, well at least for me it was! I have to admit, that full -on psy and I have a love and hate relationship. Why? Because it's so bloody hard for me to find tracks that I love, and unless I love a track I can't be motivated to pull together a mix or a set. Mediocre music seems to be flooding the internet and it's making it 1000 times harder to find music that I really like. For instance, recently I was looking for progressive breaks to do a new mix with and after listening to 1300 tracks online, I purchased 12 and of those I only kept 6. Ouch.

So yes my friends, I am basically one big human music filter. If you happen to like some of what I like, well then I just saved you 1000's of hours in searching. So that is my gift to the greater noosphere. Take what you like, leave the rest, and enjoy the music that makes you freak out when you are all alone in your living room dancing with the volume cranked.
