best hairwash ever!

Posted on May 29, 2008

if you ever get the chance to have your hair washed in a random side street in chiang mai by a small thai women, you must do it.  after the triple shampoo treatment combined with vigorous head massaging that lasted what seemed like 30 minutes, i believe that this women exorcised all the demons out of my hair.  furthermore, her intensely strong shampoo with a scent that reminded me of my elementary school after a good cleaning, has made my hair possibly the cleanest it's ever been.  i dont think i need to wash my hair for another month at least...

purely divine!

on the musical note, im getting ready to play a ton of shows this summer with my idm partner andreas so check my calender for details.

Imaginal

It was awesome to be back out at Kamp Kiwanis for another solstice event, I always love it out there.  This event was the first time in quite a while that I've teamed up with someone (Andrea's a.k.a. Ahn-Druid) to play a set.  I had forgotten how much fun it is to play with other people. We got together and made some sound recordings that we used in the set after some editing and tweaking, and then packed with 2 microphones, a guitar, and other sound making items for the live performance.  It ended up being a nice blend between minimalist vocal/guitar jamming and IDM dj'ing.  Even though we had some technical issues that were never really resolved, I feel we just hit the tip of the iceberg so to speak in terms of what potential we have together for musical creativity.  I think the two of us will be playing a lot together in the future and hopefully releasing some original music.

I've decided to upload some old mixes that I did with my friend Hector G. back in... oh geez spring of 2006!  It was a party out in Kamloops called Adventures in Love, this being the days when I played mostly beatless ambient atmospheres and was teamed with Hector as i:isus.  These two recordings are our live set broken into two parts so that they could be burned to cd's, and they are made to play one after the other (but work great separately also:)  It was so long ago I can't even remember how this set was recorded, because it's not pristine quality by any means but it has a nice raw sound that i like.  This set I laid down 2 decks of ambient melodies and atmospheres, whilst Hector played 3 decks of minimal/micro house (i think is what you'd call it anyways..)

A year ago yesterday I left on a plane going to India and then on to New Zealand, missing the winter last year.  I will be here this winter, having mixed feelings about it has inspired me to start building a 2 part mix that will be nice listening for frosty winter.  I'm thinking I'm going to split it into a day mix and a night mix idea, probably finish it in december though when I'm finished classes.

I'll also post my mix from the Slipstream party in december as well...
